Hi, I'm Joao
Hi, I’m Joao Felipe, a marketing student at Independent College Dublin with a background in computer networks and hospitality. Originally from Brazil, I’m passionate about connecting people, ideas, and brands through creative marketing strategies. I’m curious by nature, and I love learning through hands-on projects and teamwork.
Individual Reflection – Group Project on NIOWorking on this group project about NIO was a valuable and eye-opening experience. As a team, we explored how this innovative electric vehicle brand could successfully enter and position itself in the Irish market. While it was exciting, there were definitely a few bumps along the way. One of the main challenges we faced was aligning our schedules to work together consistently, especially since everyone had different class timetables and part-time jobs. To deal with this, we used shared Google Docs and set up a group chat, which helped us collaborate asynchronously and keep track of who was doing what.My main responsibility was the implementation section, where I focused on how NIO could effectively enter the Irish market. I researched potential locations for their showrooms and charging infrastructure, and also outlined a timeline for entry, starting with brand awareness campaigns followed by physical presence. If I were leading NIO’s marketing strategy in Ireland, I would begin with storytelling and emotional branding, positioning NIO as more than just a car — a lifestyle brand focused on sustainability, technology, and luxury. I’d make use of influencer marketing, local partnerships, and immersive pop-up events to introduce the brand in a memorable way.In terms of group dynamics, we were quite fortunate. Everyone brought their own strengths to the table. We divided tasks early on based on what we felt comfortable with, and when disagreements came up — like whether to include a premium pricing strategy — we resolved them through open discussion and sometimes simple voting. Not every group member was equally engaged in the beginning, but our weekly check-ins helped encourage more participation and accountability. From a learning perspective, this project helped me see how theoretical tools like SWOT and PESTLE can be applied to real-world companies like NIO. It was particularly interesting to evaluate the competitive environment in Ireland using Porter’s Five Forces. I’ve also learned a lot about the importance of tailoring strategies to local markets.Overall, I’m happy with the final report. While I do think we could have added more primary research to back up our ideas, I’m proud of our clear and creative implementation plan. The process gave me more confidence in working as part of a team and applying marketing concepts in practice.Text
